Student Prue Sorensen (Susan Penhaligon) falls pregnant to and marries American actor Gavin (James Aubrey). Her father, Peter Manson (Frank Finlay), is a publisher who has an unhealthy relationship with her and becomes distressed over her pregnancy and marriage.
